Legendary Brighton DJ Mick Fuller & soul music fan Michele Lefton conceived Brighton Soul to promote occasional soulful club nights, and it has rapidly developed into an exclusive club and party collective and its growing success has led to numerous parties and events at several clubs around Brighton and several guest appearances across the South of England.
The sound of Brighton Soul has been experienced primarily on the South Coast but has spread across the UK, many parts of Europe and beyond. The music is lovingly selected and mixed by resident DJ and Brighton Soul founder Mick Fuller with support from many guests and is aimed firmly at a more discerning clubber.
Venues from their hometown of Brighton to those in the UK and further afield are all feeling the mix of Old School Soul, Funk Anthems, Disco Classics & Deep Soulful House – something Mick and Michele are very happy about. With guests including Jay Hannan (Lazy Dog), Andy Caldwell (San Francisco), DJ Romain (NYC), Joey Musaphia, Dr Bob Jones, Cleveland Anderson (Black Masses), Bobby & Steve, Terry Jones, Harley & Muscle (Italy), Paul Sutton (EMS), Pete Haywood (Goloka), Dave Clark (Seascape), Seamus Haji (Big Love), Julian Bendall (Bah Samba), Sir Piers (Curious Records) & Soulpersona gracing the Brighton Soul turntables, it’s come as no surprise that the nights continues to rock at exclusive parties at venues including The A Bar & Terrace, Babylon Lounge, Sumo, Ocean Rooms, Vudu, Suga Qube, Club 52,
The World's End, Funktion Rooms, Flava, Lo Lounge, Ninja Bar, Concorde 2, Medusa, Baltasar (Espana), Garabato (Espana), Achill (Espana) & Atalaya (Espana).
During his career, Mick's adaptability and good musical taste have been the secret of his success, taking in many different styles of soul music in all of its various forms, from Rare Groove and Disco through to US Garage & Deep Soulful House. Over the years he has played at all of Brighton's coolest clubs including The Inn Place, Brighton Belle, Papillon, Escape Club, The Zap, Honey Club and Ocean Rooms as well as holding long-term residencies at the now legendary Kings 2 and Helsinki Bar. As a guest DJ, he’s been welcomed everywhere from international house nights like Soul Heaven & Defected In The House to old school hip-hop jams and original soul sessions.
Mick has also been used as support DJ to numerous live acts, including Incognito, Candi Staton, Marlena Shaw, Linda Lewis, Sister Sledge, Average White Band, The Blackbyrds, Fred Wesley, Roy Ayers, Alexander O’Neal, Kool & The Gang, Shalamar, The Real Thing, Boyz II Men, The Three Degrees & Kid Creole & The Coconuts and also finds time in his busy schedule to present his weekly SoulShyne radio show on Radio Reverb...
